AccessibilitY
&
Accommodations
To make education ‘accessible’ is to provide equal opportunity & conducive environment for learning & physical movement to ALL students irrespective of their difficulties & helping them reach their potential.
It is about ‘removing barriers’ of all kinds that may come in the way of students achieving the above-mentioned objective. For example, providing captions for videos is a way of removing a barrier that comes in the way of students with hearing impairment accessing the video content.
Accessibility as a broad term is also used to describe how an environment, product or service is usable, simple & adaptive without having to think about the “How’s “or “How to’s” while using it in daily lives in a seamless manner irrespective of having a disability or not.

Accommodation on the other hand, deals with the needs of a specific student in order to help him or her in a specific situation where a barrier cannot be removed. For example, a student with disabilities may be accommodated during an examination by giving him or her extra time to write answers/solutions to the given questions.
